Extension Overview

This information is for the in2tel phone system.

A phone extension is a short internal number, such as (101), assigned to a specific phone line within a larger telephone system, such as a business or organisation. Extensions allow users to reach a specific department, desk, or individual directly without requiring a separate external phone number for each endpoint.

The phone system allows managers to monitor and assist each phone extension, which can be extremely beneficial in remote environments, or busy call centres and customer service desks.

Managing extensions

Admins can control other users with clicks, move around passing on calls that are stuck in queues, and monitor calls for training purposes.

Presence Status: Displays the availability or current status of other extensions.
Voicemail: Allows users to receive, listen to, and manage voice messages effectively.
Caller ID: Shows the caller’s details when receiving incoming calls.
Speed Dial: Provides shortcuts for quickly dialling frequently used extension numbers.
Extension Permissions: Enables the management of specific permissions or restrictions for each extension.
